At Lowbeck Group we take Health and Safety very seriously and as such our ethos is reflected quite clearly in our Health and Safety policy. As a company we are committed to ensuring that we not only conform to all legislation but we take our thinking one step further - that we are morally responsible for taking our personal safety and that of all those around us as priority.
 
 
Our Health and Safety Policy Statement:
 
It is the policy of the Company to provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions and to ensure that the Company’s activities do not adversely affect the health and safety of others such as sub-contractors and members of the public.
 
The object of the policy is to reduce accidents and ill health caused by the working environment.
 
Employees and Sub-Contractors are required to give the policy their full support and are encouraged to make constructive suggestions for improvement of safety.
 
The following is intended as an abbreviated version of Legal Responsibilities for Safety, Health and Welfare in the H.V.A.C. Industry, which is published in detail by the Heating, and Ventilating Joint Safety Committee, copies of which can be obtained from our Registered Office.
 
 
Responsibilities Of An Employee:
 
Between the above companies, the Group provides the following services:
 
1.)
To observe safe working practice.
2.)
To look after your own health and safety and watch out for others who might be affected by what you do.
3.)
To use the correct tools and equipment and the safety equipment provided.
4.)
To keep tools and equipment in good condition and report defects to your supervisor.
5.)
To avoid improvising if it creates unnecessary risk.
6.)
To suggest ways of eliminating hazards and to warn others of known hazards.
7.)
To refrain from horseplay and the misuse of welfare facilities.
8.)
To report all accidents and dangerous occurrences to your Manager or Director.
 
 
Responsibilities Of Sub-Contractors & Their Employers:
 
1.)
All sub-contractors employees are to observe and maintain the conditions set out above under ‘Responsibilities of an ‘Employee’.
2.)
To co-operate with his employer and main contractor at all times in ensuring health and safety.
3.)
To ensure that his own employees receive such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary for health and safety.
4.)
To act on the instructions of his employer or the main contractor’s site supervisor or safety officers.
5.)
To ensure that all plant and equipment is in good condition, free from defect and that all statutory examinations have been carried out.
6.)
To report all accidents and dangerous occurrences to the site supervisor immediately they occur.
 
 
Notes:
 
This policy is issued by the Company under the authority of the Board of Directors.
 
A.)
Every employee is responsible for the safe execution of his own duties.
B.)
Any employee who fails to take reasonable measure to protect the health and safety of himself or others may be liable to disciplinary action.
C.)
When appropriate, full consultation will take place between the Company and employee representatives in order to promote health and safety.
D.)
All interested parties together with their employees are bound by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (C.O.S.H.H.) Regulation 1988 and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994 together with the Company’s requirements for safety.
E.)
This policy is actively monitored and will be subject to review as and when necessary.
 
Responsibility for health and safety on premises, sites and elsewhere is delegated to the persons in charge of the works in accordance with the usual chain of line management responsibility. Foremen are considered responsible for the safe conduct of work in their areas and this responsibility cannot be delegated to others.
 
The Director responsible for all company matters concerning health and safety is Mrs Su Taylor.
